Top best extension award for Urban Building Projects

WARRINGTON based Urban Building Projects, working in partnership with the borough council’s Building Control Team has scooped a top award at the North West Building Excellence Awards.

Urban Building Projects won the prize of “Best extension to existing home at the North West Building Excellence Awards 2019 held at Lancashire Cricket Club.

The council’s building control team had several projects in different categories of work going forward to this year’s event, run by Local Authority Building Control (LABC) – the body which represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales – the awards recognise technical innovation, sustainability, quality of construction and high thermal performance.

More than 600 professionals attended the prestigious event hoping to go home with a prestigious LABC Award, in a variety of categories. Everything, from new schools to kitchen extensions, can be nominated.

Urban Building Projects completed their prize winning development at Walton in January 2019, turning a tired traditional detached dwelling into a magnificent modern four bedroom home, with open plan family accommodation to the ground floor.

The council’s executive board member for environment and transport, Cllr Judith Guthrie, said: “This event is a firm favourite in the calendar of the construction industry and I’m delighted developments in Warrington are in the running for awards. It gives us the opportunity to showcase, at a regional level, the excellent work that goes on in our borough.”

Urban Building Projects MD Carl Palmer said: “Having been a finalist for the past few years we are delighted to have finally won the LABC Award, The credit goes to my Contracts Manager Mike Hannon and all the urban team in their contribution to achieving this prestigious award.”
