WARRINGTON & Vale Royal College is pledging their support for the ‘Love Our Colleges’ campaign, calling on the government for better funding and fair pay for further education colleges.

The campaign, developed by the Association of Colleges (AoC), takes place this week (May 13-17).

During this week, colleges across the country will be hosting various activities and events to highlight the invaluable contribution that colleges makes in transforming lives and communities through education.

Colleges drive social mobility; they help businesses improve productivity and drive economic growth. They are an essential part of England’s education system – educating and training 2.2 million people every year. However, over the last decade colleges have had to deal with an average 30% funding cut, whilst costs have increased dramatically.

In support of the ‘Love Our Colleges’ campaign, Warrington & Vale Royal College’s Principal & Chief Executive, Nichola Newton, and the college’s Student Council, will be welcoming Warrington North’s MP Helen Jones to their Warrington campus to showcase the great things that the college does every day to support people of all ages and backgrounds, and help them to maximise their full potential.

Staff and students will also be pledging their support by participating in the creation of pieces of artwork which will be displayed within the campuses.

The college, one of the top General Further Education Colleges in England, will also be joining in the conversation on social media, posting photographs and videos of staff and students sharing their love for the college and support for the campaign using the hashtag #LoveOurColleges.
