Culcheth Community Day draws large crowds

Despite a chilly start the sun shone on the annual Culcheth Community Day which saw large crowds enjoying the attractions.

The popular event, taking place on Culcheth Green and organised by Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council was even bigger and better than last years successful day.

Despite heavy rain in the build up to the Bank Holiday Monday festivities, the newly improved drainage works to the Green ensured the event went ahead as planned where in previous years it may have been cancelled.

A fun packed list of shows and acts included the amazing H & M Dog Display Team and the fabulous Band One steel band.

Throughout the afternoon there were displays by the energetic NW Karate team, exhibitions of classic cars, bikes and tractors, a family pet show, Wild Wings birds of prey and, for the youngsters, there was Circus Whiz, Dozy Dave the children’s entertainer, fairground rides and a Caribbean-themed fancy dress competition.

The Community Day is traditionally a chance for local charities and good causes to promote themselves and raise much needed awareness and funds. This year saw a great many voluntary organisations with stalls. A large variety of food and drink stalls made sure that all visitors were catered for and many of the local food and drink establishments also offered hospitality.

Radio Warrington were on hand to provide live coverage, music and entertainment throughout the day and Culcheth Library opened its doors offering children’s entertainment.
