THE newly-formed Friends of Orford Park are gearing up to make sure the annual Orford Park Festival keeps going.
Sunday, June 23 is the date set for the event, which will see a wide range of activities for the local community staged in Orford Park.
Spokesman Danny Wheatley said: “We are a new group set up to try and get the festival up and running again.
“Along with Warrington Borough Council and other sponsors, we have the funding required and, we hope, a talented group to pull it off.”
This year’s event will be the seventh – but last year’s festival nearly didn’t happen.
It was set to be cancelled until Chadwick’s funfair stepped in, and with support from the borough council, made sure the free event went ahead.
This year’s festival will again including a fairground, community stalls, free train and donkey rides, local music groups and dance acts and other attractions for the family.
The day will start at 11am on June 23 and continue until 3pm.
