Heavy rain wipes out entire cricket programme

HEAVY rain wiped out the whole cricket programme in the Warrington area on Saturday – with most matches called off by 10am.
But on Sunday, Grappenhall 3rd XI were able to get their season under way with a T20 victory over Macclesfield at Broad Lane.
The visitors batted first and were held to a modest 103 thanks to good bowling by Grappers’ all seam attack. Stanley Pennington and Tom Clarke picked up two wickets each.
Grappenhall lost a couple of early wickets but were never in any danger and coasted to victory for the loss of four wickets.
