Police launch investigation following fatal collision on Birchwood Way


POLICE have launched an investigation following a fatal collision on Birchwood Way, Padgate, yesterday (Tuesday).

The collision between a blue Ford Fiesta and a white Kia Rio occurred shortly after 9.30am on Tuesday 23 April on the A574 Birchwood Way.

The incident occurred between the junctions of Blackbrook Avenue and the A50 Orford Road.

Sadly the driver of the Fiesta, an 81-year-old man from Birchwood, passed away at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Rio, a 38-year-old man from Orford, sustained minor injuries and no arrests have been made.

Enquiries in relation to the collision are currently ongoing and anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 382137.
