CCTV images of man wanted in connection with serious town centre assault

DETECTIVES have issued CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a serious assault in Warrington town centre.

The incident, which police have previously appealed for witnesses to come forward, occurred near an alleyway between the Postern Gate pub and the FC2 nightclub in Barbauld Street between 2.55am and 3.15am on Saturday 9 March.

The victim, a 25-year-old man from Warrington, was assaulted by a young man and suffered serious facial injuries.

He received treatment for his injuries at hospital and has since been discharged.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives believe that the man in the CCTV images may have vital information to help with their investigation.

They are urging anyone who recognises him or thinks they may know who he is to get in touch.

Detectives also want to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time that the incident occurred and believes that they witnessed something that may aid the investigation.

Detective Constable Jill Peggs, from Warrington CID, said: “We believe that the man in the CCTV images may have important information to help with our ongoing investigation into a serious assault in Warrington.

“The victim suffered serious facial injuries that required hospital treatment as a result of the assault and we are determined to establish who was responsible and bring them to justice.

“If you think you recognise the man in the CCTV images or know who he is please call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 344949, give us the details via https://cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“The same goes for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or anything else that may help our investigation.

“I would also like to appeal directly to the man in the CCTV images to get in touch.”
