Third defeat in a row for Latchford

LATCHFORD Albion fell to a third consecutive defeat against a clinical Simms Cross outfit at Victoria Park.
The opening signs were promising from the hosts and, following some good field position, the ball was moved quickly along the line allowing centre Adam Wadsworth the space to cross out wide and Albion were ahead after only five minutes.
Latchford appeared in control at this stage and were constantly threatening the visitors’ line, however a quick counter attack saw Simms Cross hit back with a converted try to allow them to seize the initiative. This was shortly followed by a second converted try and by half time the visitors were leading 4-12.
In a mirror opposite of the first half it was Simms Cross who started the strongest and a further converted try stretched their lead further to 4-18 and left Albion with an uphill challenge.
Despite the hosts having plenty of possession, they could not find a way through a resilient defensive effort by the visitors, and a try in the closing stages gave the final score-line a one sided appearance at 4-24.
Latchford have a free weekend which will allow coach Martyn Ellis the opportunity to regroup before a tough trip to currently undefeated Blackbrook on April 27.
