Strong performances by Warrington Athletic Club members

EIGHTEEN Warrington Athletic club athletes travelled to the Macclesfield Open Meeting.
Spencer Astbury finished in third place in the under-11 boys 75 metres race in a personal best time of 12.5 seconds and then improved his best time over 600 metres to 2 minutes 02.9 seconds as he again finished in third place.
In the under 13 girls 800 metres Alice Nicholson finished in sixth place in 2 minutes 43.1 seconds with Evie Owen in eleventh place in 2 minutes 59.4 seconds both recording personal best times.
Ben Pucill finished in third place in the under 15 boys 200 metres in a time of 28.9 seconds and then was second under 15 in a mixed age 800 metres in 2 minutes 37.7 seconds.
In the under 15 girls events Ellie-Ann Tuitt-Williams was fourth in her 100 metres in 13.8 seconds and third in the 200 metres in 29.2 seconds.In the 800 metres in the age group Amelia Smithers held off teammate Lucie Davies to finish in second place in 2 minutes 39.3 seconds with Lucie third in 2 minutes 39.5 seconds while Molly Wormald finished in fifth place in 2 minutes 52.8 seconds. Molly had earlier made her debut over 300 metres finishing seventh in 51.7 seconds but had  to run the second half of the race with a shoelace undone! In the 300 metres Georgia Smethurst finished in fourth place in 48.5 seconds.
Under 20 Elizabeth Wright finished in second place in the women’s 400 metres in a time of 65.1 seconds
In the under 17 age group Ellen Turnbull finished in sixth place in the 800 metres recording 2 minutes 49.7 seconds in her debut at the distance. In the men’s 100 metres Tom McKean finished in third place with a personal best time of 12 seconds exactly and was also third in the 200 metres in 24.8 seconds.
In the mixed race 3000 metres Joe Roberts finished in fourth place overall in 10 minutes 13.4 seconds on his debut at the distance and was second under 17.
In a mixed age group 1500 metres Issaq Ataullah finished third overall in 4 minutes 27.4 seconds with Charlie Turnbull in fourth in a personal best of 4 minutes 30.3 seconds and Joel Birchall returning from injury in fifth place in 4 minutes 33.1 seconds. Issaq was second under 17 with Joel third and Charlie was second under 20. Daniel Newman finished in tenth place in 5 minutes 17.6 seconds to be first over 50.
Warrington Athletics Club’s Dave Gill won the over 60 age group at the Mersey Tunnel 10km race with a time of 40 minutes 48 seconds.
Warrington Athletic Club’s younger athletes did well in the Whitley 5k Fun Run.
Rory Gregory won the boys race, and Spencer Astbury came second.
Cara Gregory won the girls race while her twin twin sister, Sinead came second.
