WARRINGTON Town pair Mark Roberts and David Raven have been named in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division Team of the Year.

The central defensive pairing have been formidable for the Yellows and a key part of their title challenge this season, boasting the best defensive record in the league having conceded just 30 goals in 35 matches.

A run of more than 15 hours without conceding a league goal coincided with Raven’s debut, who missed a handful of games at the start of the campaign as he awaited international clearance.

Captain Roberts, 35, has been a virtual ever present for Paul Carden, making his debut in the season opener against Farsley Celtic.

The Evo-Stik League Premier Division team of the year is voted for by opposition manager’s, and was revealed at the league’s annual player awards dinner in Barnsley on Sunday night.

Former Warrington left-back Will Hayhurst, who left the Yellows at the end of the season to join Farsley, was also named in the team.
