THE occupants of a house at Great Sankey, Warrington, escaped unhurt when fire broke out at around 9.15pm last night.
Fire crews from Warrington and Penketh were sent to the scene in Ross Close where they discovered the fire was in a ground floor bedroom.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using a hose reel jet. They then use a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property.
The team were at the scene for about 45 minutes.
In an earlier incident, firefighters from Penketh went to Hood Lane North, Great Sankey in response to reports of a fire in the open.
They found a wheelie bin well alight and used a water back pack to extinguish the flames. They were at the scene for about 15 minutes.
