A day of fun for adults with learning difficulties

A FREE day of fun and action is on offer to adults with Autism and learning difficulties at Warrington’s Victoria Park Arena.
It is being organized by a partnership between local charity Creating Adventures and the Warrington Wolves Foundation.
Starting at 10am on Wednesday, May 8, the Step into Spring Festival will be a day full of activity, fun and games for adults aged 18+ with Autism and learning disabilities.
With expert coaching on hand, participants will be able to try sports and games including Rugby League, Seated Volleyball, Archery, Tennis, Boccia and much more. For those who want to try something a little more genteel there’ll be yoga, dance and pamper treatments thanks to the Village Hotel, along with side fun stalls.
Creating Adventures, the brainchild of local resident, Jenny Allcock, exists to bring laughter, stimulation and enrichment to the lives of adults aged 18+ with Autism and learning disabilities. For many, age is merely a number and they still want to enjoy many of the activities they will have enjoyed as a child but are not available as an adult or deemed to be socially acceptable. Creating Adventures is about breaking down those perceptions and barriers that exist in the community and giving adults in need the activities that they want to enjoy and activities which will offer them an improved quality of life
Jenny Alcock said: “Our Step into Spring event is a great opportunity to bring some fun and activity to the lives of adults with Autism and complex learning difficulties. Events like this are essential in helping to improve the health and wellbeing of so many adults in our region. We are really excited to be collaborating with the Warrington Wolves Foundation and can’t wait to see everyone’s hard work come together”
Neil Kelly, director of Warrington Wolves Foundation, said: “We are really looking forward to working with Creating Adventures with the Step into Spring event. Providing much needed activities with a sprinkle of magic from the Wolves will only enhance the enjoyment of adults in our society that are neglected. We want to support Creating Adventures in breaking down barriers and tackling them head on with fun days like this one.”
