Casualty overcome by smoke in house fire

A HOUSEHOLDER was treated for the effects of smoke when fire broke out at a house in Westbrook, Warrington this morning.
The blaze was at a property in Castle Green shortly before 9.30am and caused extensive damage in the kitchen.
Firefighters from Warrington and Penketh went to the scene and two members of the team, wearing breathing apparatus, tackled the fire using a hose reel jet.
They then used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the building.
Paramedics also went to the scene and treated the casualty for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews were at the scene for about 50 minutes.
