Pub launches a search for Warrington comedians

WARRINGTON’S Albion pub has launched a search for more Warrington comedians.
The pub, on Battersby Lane, which claims to be the town’s longest established free-to-enter comedy night, believes there are plenty of would-be comedians in Warrington, and wants to find them.
Now in its fourth year, the Albion comedy night is on alternate Wednesday, with a format of compere, four open mic comedians and finally a professional headline comedian.
Dave Appleton comedian and promoter (pictured) said: “Currently want-to-be comedians travel from all over the North West, Midlands and Potteries to ply their trade at The Albion and Warrington has a rich list of comedians on the open mic and professional circuit.
“Now we want more people to give it ago, so if you’ve always been the class comedian or the guy cracking all the jokes at the bar or the Mum with hilarious facebook rants, I want to hear from you”.
The Albion comedy night was recently voted North West open mic comedy night of the year by the industry.
Dave Appleton and fellow Warrington comedian and promoter Craig Bennett attended the awards at the famous Frog and Bucket with awards being handed out by TV’S John Thompso..
The Albion missed out on the top award to the world-famous Comedy Store.
The Albion was voted CAMRA community pub of the year in 2017 and is still proud of its work in the community Last year, the publraised more than £2500 for a local girl as well as £500 for Prostate Cancer UK as well as Easter egg and selection box collections for Warrington Foodbank.
