Disappointing start to Latchford’s league season

LATCHFORD Albion got off to a disappointing start when they opened their league campaign with a visit to Wigan St Cuthberts.
The first half was a relatively even affair and coming up to half-time the impressive home side held only a slender 8-0 lead.
But two quick fire tries, either side of the interval, effectively took the game away from Albion.
Cuthberts were now on top and they were clinical and put Albion to the sword, finishing with a 42-4 victorfy.
Morgan Nicholas crossed for Latchford’s solitary score which was merely consolation on a difficult afternoon.
The positives head coach Martyn Ellis took from the game were the debuts of under 18s players Matthew Nash and Jack Foulkes who were both impressive in their first competitive game. Credit also went to prop forward Fraser Jones-Lake (pictured) who played the full 80 minutes leading from the front.
This Saturday Latchford host Cumbrian side Ulverston at the Victoria Park Arena, kick off 2.30pm with refreshments available from 1pm.
