BUDGET hotel brand Travelodge is looking for a fourth hotel site in Warrington as part of expansion plans across Cheshire.

The announcement was made at the official opening of Travelodge’s new Cheshire flagship hotel – Chester Central Bridge Street Travelodge.

Warrington has been identified as one of three key target locations in Cheshire, representing an investment of £18 million for third party investors, creating 100 new jobs – including 30 in Warrington. The other two locations are Chester and Runcorn.

This Cheshire trio expansion announcement was made at the official opening of Travelodge’s new Cheshire flagship hotel, Chester Central Bridge Street Travelodge. This property is the company’s 14th hotel in Cheshire and the first to offer SuperRooms, the UK’s first budget premium economy room concept.

Tony ‘O Brien, Travelodge UK Property Director, said: “Cheshire is a key growth area for Travelodge as visitor numbers are set to grow with momentum over the coming years. However there still remains a shortage of good quality and low cost hotels across the county. To meet this growing demand we are actively looking for a site for our fourth hotels in Warrington and Chester and for our first Travelodge in Runcorn. Collectively this trio hotel expansion represents an investment of £18 million for third party investors and will create around 100 new jobs, which includes 30 positions in Warrington.”

Chester Central Bridge Street Travelodge was officially opened by Chris Matheson, MP for the City of Chester, the Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Alex Black and Tony O’Brien, Travelodge UK Property Director.

The 112-room hotel with an on-site restaurant called the Bar-Cafe, is located in the heart of the city centre. It is the company’s 575th hotel and its third in Chester.

It is also the first Travelodge hotel in Cheshire to offer SuperRooms, the UK’s first budget premium economy room concept. This new class of room is the first of its kind in the UK budget hotel market. It is designed around the ‘premium economy’ concept familiar to airline users. It dials up the comfort factor for business and leisure customers who want the extra choice of a more premium room.

Founded in 1985, Travelodge is one of the UK’s leading hotel brands. The hotel chain currently operates 578 Travelodge hotels in the UK, Spain and Ireland as of January 2019.

Other Travelodge hotels in Warrington are – Warrington Travelodge, Warrington Gemini Travelodge and Warrington Lowton Travelodge.
