James to run a marathon – in full snowboarding gear

A MEMBER of Lymm Runners is to challenge the Guinness World Record for running a marathon in full snowboarding gear.
Father of two James Williams, 44, will take part in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 28, dressed in full snowboarding gear, including carrying a genuine snowboard.
As vice-chairman of Lymm and District Round Table he will be raising funds for the Round Table Children’s Wish Charity with a target to raise at least £1,650.
He said: “I decided to do this because it combines two of my passions – snowboarding and running. I’ll be wearing the full snowboarding kit including ski jacket, helmet, goggles and snowboard boots and of course carrying an adult snowboard which weighs about 5kg. I’ve learnt that it’s also pretty unwieldy to run with.”
The current World Record is five hours 46 minutes – and James knows this not going to be easy.
‘Having done a couple of practice runs, including the Southport Mad Dog 10K race on February 3, this is going to be a tough target.”
