Youngster alleged to have grabbed police sergeant around the throat

A Police Sergeant was allegedly grabbed around the throat while arresting a teenage male accused of causing criminal damage to a property at Croft earlier today.

The youngster was arrested and taken into custody accused of criminal damage at a property in the Croft area and an alleged Assault on an Emergency Worker.

Meanwhile in another incident earlier today (Monay) a male was arrested in the Chapleford area for an alleged series of Domestic Assaults during December 2018 and January 2019 against his female partner.

A male was also arrested in a town centre pub for allegation of Burglary after it was alleged he went behind the bar to steal alcohol.

Police praised bar staff for an “excellent job” by detaining the male until police arrival.
