“Shared Reading” arrives in Culcheth

A NEW “Shared Reading” group has been launched by the Friends of Culcheth Library.
It is to meet every Thursday afternoon from 12.45 until 2pm in the library when members can drop in to listen to a great story or poem – without any pressure to read or speak.
The Friends have come together with national charity The Reader to launch what is a new kind of reading group in the village.
The sessions are free and tea and coffee are provided.
Literature is specially chosen by The Reader’s volunteer leader, Laura Thomason, who is also a member of the Friends’ group
She said: “I’m so excited to bring Shared Reading to Culcheth. It’s a fantastic initiative, which brings people together and brings literature to life.
“You can just drop in, sit down and enjoy listening to a great story or poem – there’s no pressure to talk or read. There is no need to book, but if you wish to register interest you ca contact Culcheth Library on 01925 763293.”
The Reader (https://www.thereader.org.uk/) was launched in Birkenhead a decade ago and now has more than 500 groups supported by an army of 1,000 volunteers
