Traffic chaos following six vehicle collision on M6

TRAFFIC chaos returned to the roads of Warrington following a six vehicle collision on the M6 this morning, as many returned to work for the first time following the festive break.

Two lanes of the M6 were closed northbound following the collision near to junction 21a at Croft at around 7.10am involving six vehicles, with one person reported to have received minor injuries.

As a result there were lengthy delays back to the Lymm interchange with knock on effects on the M56.

There was also an early morning accident on accident on the M62 eastbound near Birchwood which compounded he early morning traffic problems across Warrington.

There was near gridlock in the south of the town as commuters attempted to make their way into work, with lengthy delays on Lumb brook Road at Appleton, Chester Road, Wilderspool Causeway and Knutsford Road and on Bridgefoot.
