VIDEO: Episode 1 of a new series of live broadcasts from Warrington town centre looking at the issues facing the town, promoting local businesses, encouraging people to shop local and supporting the high street.

As one of the founding members of #LoveWarrington I care passionately about the town where I  live and work.

I teamed up with Gary Pemberton from Belvoir Sales & Lettings, who recently celebrated 10 years of running a business in the town centre, to discuss the various issues facing the town following the loss of major brands like Woolworths and Marks & Spencers, looking at ways to encourage more people to shop local and support the town.

The past year has been a tough one for many businesses and with much uncertainty created by #brexit and changes in shopping habits, it more important than ever that we work hard to support our town and local businesses.

During episode one we take a walk down Sankey Street, reflecting on the loss of Marks and Spencers, which still remains an empty unit on Golden Square, look at the changes taking place, including converting the upper floors of some buildings into residential, finishing outside the temporary Warrington Market, where major changes are taking place at the Time Square re-development which includes a brand new market and multi-screen cinema.
