Man stabbed in back on Manchester Road

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured after being stabbed in the back on Manchester Road, Warrington, yesterday afternoon.

Officers were called to an incident near a takeaway in Manchester Road, Warrington at 3.56pm on Wednesday, Janaury 2.

A 52-year-old man had a wound to his back and was being treated by paramedics. He has been taken to Aintree Hospital with an injury which is believed to be serious.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 10ins with light coloured hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit.

Officers are in their early stages of the investigation and are making a search of the area.
