Bakery staff forced to open safe during robbery

STAFF in a baker’s shop at Warrington were forced to open a safe by two thugs who entered the premises around closing time.
The offence took place at Gregg’s bakery off Sandy Lane West, Winwick at around 6.15pm on Wednesday, December 2.
Warrington CID today appealed for any witnesses of the robberyto come forward with information.
Police said two unknown men entered the shop, approached the counter and threatened two members of staff, demanding that the safe be open.
The staff members were then led to the back office where they were forced to open the safe.
The two offenders then took all the cash from the safe and fled the scene.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information that may help their investigation to come forward.
They also want to hear from anyone who believes they may have dashcam footage of the offenders.
Detective Constable Maggie Cassidy said: “While no weapons were used the victims have been left extremely shaken and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible and bring them to justice.
“The bakery is located at a busy retail park and is also next to a major junction on the A49 and I believe that there will have been a number of people in the area at the time of the incident who may be able to assist with our investigation.
“If you were in the area around the time the incident occurred and witnessed anything that may be of help please come forward.
“The same goes for anyone who believes they may know who the offenders are or have dashcam footage of them.”
