Arsonists torch car at Latchford

ARSONISTS are believed to have started a fire which caused serious damage to a car in St Mary’s Street, Latchford, Warrington.
The fire was reported at around 9.15pm on New Year’s Day and a fire engine from Birchwood went to the scene. The car was well alight and two hose reel jets were used to put out the flames.
Firefighters then damped down the area to make it safe.

In another incident, firefighters were called to a nursing home in Weaste Lane, Thelwall after the smell of burning was reported.
The home was evacuated and crews carried out a full inspection of the building using a thermal imaging camera. But no fire was detected and the home was advised to call in an electrician as soon as possible to check the electrics.
