AN Appleton man who took up painting when he retired has published a children’s picture book.
“Spikey Mike Learns to Drive” tells the story of a hedgehog who renovates an old roller skate and takes it for a drive.
It has been written and illustrated by Dave Percival, who retired in 2016 after a career in the nuclear industry.
He said: “When I retired I joined Warrington Art Group to inspire me to take up my painting hobby a bit more seriously.
“I recently completed the book which tells about a hedgehog taking an old roller skate for a drive. “Only problem is – no brakes!”
The book is currently available from Donna Marie, Stockton Heath, Ruby and Harry, Lymm, Courtyard Crafts, Walton Gardens and will shortly be available at the British Hedgehog Preservation Society online store.
Mr Percival will also be exhibiting his artwork at Chris Beesley’s Gallery at Bruche during February.
