Council chief talks about the BIG issues facing Warrington

VIDEO: WARRINGTON Borough Council Chief Executive Steven Broomhead talked about the “big issues” facing the town as raised by warrington-worldwide readers.

The biggest issues raised by readers were traffic and congestion and the number of houses being built in advance of the PDO Local Plan and the pressures on Green Belt.

Mr Broomhead says the council needs to continue to consider planning applications for new housing or face the risk of penalties from central Government for not meeting targets for housing needs.

Other issues raised were the council’s close relationship with organisations including Langtree and Peel and Redwood Bank, homelessness and the lack of social housing, litter, public transport and the £500,000 being spent on the town hall Golden Gates.

Mr Broomhead also discusses the impact of #Brexit on Warrington and Warrington Wolves, where he is deputy Chairman.

He confirmed Head Coach Steve Price will be with the club next season and possibly longer, despite links with his former club Cronulla, down under.

He is confident that with the club’s new signings they will be competing in finals again and hopefully winning at least one, including the elusive Grand Final.
