Wendy Molyneux, LiveWire’s Strategic Libraries Manager, said: “We love sharing reading experiences and recommending great books to our customers, and it’s very rewarding to be able to look back over the past 12 months and see what has proved popular with our members.
“We always have a Book of the Month across all our libraries, which highlights new or lesser known authors.  It is fantastic to see that the most borrowed adult book for 2018, The Affair by Amanda Brooke, is a book chosen by our staff as a Book of the Month. Warrington residents certainly enjoy thrilling reads and we look forward to providing them with many more throughout 2019.
“We want all children to enjoy reading and aim to find the right book for every child. The most issued children’s book is the picture book The Adventures of Pugalugs – The Beginning by Jessica Parrish. Pugalugs is very cute and very funny and is based on the author’s own dog.  We were lucky enough to have Pugalugs himself visit Lymm Library during Lymm Festival when he behaved beautifully. The top ten is dominated by David Walliams with five titles and Julia Donaldson with three.  ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid – the Getaway’ made up the list.
“With so much to choose from why not make it your New Year’s resolution to visit your local library more often throughout 2019 and discover a new gem or meet an old favourite?  We look forward to seeing customers old and new very soon.”
The lists reflect borrowing figures from January 1st 2018 to December 10th 2018.
