DETECTIVES investigating the death of Ann Marie Pomphret at Burtonwood are calling on the public to help track down an item of clothing that could be critical to enquiries.

A murder investigation was launched when Ann Marie, aged 49, was found dead at the stables off Old Alder Lane on November 2nd this year. Extensive enquiries have continued since that day and as part of the enquiries officers have released an image of an identical top, which may have been discarded in the area.

DI Adam Waller said: “If you recognise this top, have seen anyone wearing it in the Winwick or Burtonwood area on the evening of the 2 November 2018 or discarded around that area in particular, please contact us as we feel it may be very important to our investigation.

“I’d like to reassure residents that we have been following a number of lines of enquiry and are leaving no stone unturned. I’d particularly like to thank the public for their help with providing information, particularly on the Friday evening when we were out and about in Burtonwood canvassing witnesses and speaking to residents. If you think you have seen something suspicious please continue to feed in the information to us.”

A 50-year-old man was arrested as part of police enquiries and has since been released on conditional bail.
