THE family of the Warrington woman found dead at the weekend have today paid tribute to her.
Ann Marie Pomphret, aged 49, from Winwick, was found dead in stables off Old Alder Lane, Burtonwood on Friday evening.
She had suffered severe head injuries and a murder investigation was launched and is still continuing.
A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is still helping police with their enquiries.
In a statement, the family said: “Marie was a beloved daughter, wife and mother. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family out in nature, looking after their horses. We are devastated that she has been taken from us so young and in such a senseless way.
“We ask that anyone who has any information no matter how small to inform the police as soon as possible. Marie will forever be in our hearts and we appreciate all of the well wishes that we’ve received, but ask that our privacy be respected during this very difficult time.”
A post-mortem concluded the cause of death was head injuries.
Police are making extensive enquiries and are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries/ quoting IML230241.
