Anticipation builds for Warrington Way 40 Mile ultra challenge

RUNNERS are gearing up for the fourth Warrington Way 40 Mile Ultra Challenge on Saturday November 10.

A total of 250 runners will set off from The Cross in Lymm at 7.30am, following a 40 mile route circumnavigating the town, mostly on footpaths, tracks and country lanes.

They pass through or near Rixton, Birchwood, Winwick, Burtonwood, Bold, Penketh, Moore, Appleton, Hatton and High Legh, returning to finish where they started in Lymm.

Race Director, Kieran Walshe said: “This is a fantastic event, with great support from Lymm Runners who organise and marshal the race.

“For some of those entering, it’s the first time they’ve run more than a marathon distance, and it’s their introduction to ultrarunning. We hope people will turn out in the village to cheer on the runners at the start and as they finish!”

The first finishers are expected around 12.30pm in the Village Hall Pepper Street where they can gather to exchange stories and enjoy some hot food.

The race is full for this year and an army of volunteers are all making final preparations to ensure the event runs as smoothly as ever.
