David Domoney from the hit ITV show “Love Your Garden” visited the charity Shoulder to Soldiers community allotment last week and was impressed by the gardening skills on show.
The allotment, provided by Bents Garden Centre, has been transformed by the hard work and dedication of around 40 veterans.
Cultivation Street presented the charity with a cheque for £1000 and 100 geraniums as Regional Winners of the Community Garden 2018 category.
Linda Fisher Trustee of the charity said: “David was impressed with the transformation of the allotment area, he took time out to speak to each and everyone of the veterans who have worked so hard to deliver the project. He gave them useful tips on maintaining the plot and lots of words of encouragement. We wanted to thank all local businesses and the community for their support and encourage any Armed Forces Families to get involved to come down and visit for a bacon butty and a brew at 10am every Sunday.”
