LATCHFORD Albion has appointed Shevington Sharks coach Martyn Ellis as first team coach, with immediate effect.
A meeting has been arranged at Richmond’s Social Club on Monday, October 29, to formally welcome Ellis to the club and introduce him to players, former players and any players looking for a new challenge.
The 7pm meeting will give the new coach and the club an opportunity to outline their plans for next season.
Ellis has coached in the premier division for the last four years, helping Shevington to become a side to consistently challenge within the top four, culminating in winning the North West Men’s League Cup.
He was also part of the management team on the recent NWML tour of Italy and has spent a considerable amount of time within the Leigh Centurions set-up, coaching a number of current Super League players along their journey from junior player to the professional ranks.
An Albion spokesman said: “Martyn’s CV made him a stand out contender and his vision matches the intentions of the club. We are hopeful his success with Shevington can be replicated, if not enhanced further, with Latchford.
“We are keen to take advantage of his vast experience, making the appointment an exciting project for all parties.”
