370 take part in schools’ cross country races

THE first match of Warrington Athletic Club’s Schools Cross Country League took place on a very wet and blustery day at Walton Hall Gardens.
In the Primary Schools races there was the a fantastic turnout with almost 300 runners finishing in the two races, while in the High School races there was a total of 70 runners finishing.
In the Primary Girls race, Eva Karalius (Broomfields) won the race in 5 minutes 01 seconds from Eva Jha (St Philip’s) 5 minutes 13 seconds and Esme Heavey (Bradshaw) 5 minutes 18 seconds. The team race was won by St Monica’s on 51 points with Cherry Tree beating St Peter’s for second place by virtue of their 4th runner finishing ahead of St Peter’s 4th runner with both teams being on 64 points.
The Primary Boys race was won by Jack Marwood (Ravenbank) in 6 minutes 23 second from Tyreece Swinton (Broomfields) 6 minutes 29 seconds and Ewen Wynne-Roberts (Statham) 6 minutes 39 seconds. The team race was won by Ravenbank on 76 points from Broomfield 86 points and St Monica’s 88 points.
In the Minor Girls (year 7) race, Alice Nicholson (Great Sankey) won in 7 minutes 18 seconds from Corin Smith (Lymm) 7 minutes 25 seconds and Harriet Bell (Bridgewater) 7 minutes 32 seconds. The team race was won by Beamont on 20 points from Bridgewater on 22 points.
In the Minor Boys (year 7) race, Ben Norman (Bridgewater) won in 11 minutes 12 seconds from Rhys Brindley (Beamont) 11 minutes 13 seconds and Max Ryder (Lymm) 11 minutes 15 seconds. Beamont won the team race on 28 points.
In the Junior (year 8 & 9) and Intermediate Girls (year 10 & 11) race,  Melissa Ince (Culcheth) won in 10 minutes 10 seconds from Eva Ferris (Lymm) 10 minutes 27 seconds and Molly Wormald (Great Sankey) 10 minutes 41 seconds with all three girls being in the junior age group. Rebecca Nixon (King’s) in 5th place in 11 minutes 11 seconds won the Intermediate race from Siobhan Gregory (Loreto, Altrincham) running as a guest in 6th overall  in 11 minutes 56 seconds and Rebecca Hardwicke (Great Sankey) 12th overall in 14 minutes 13 seconds. Great Sankey won the Junior Team race on 24 points from Beamont on 52 points.  The intermediate team race was also won by Great Sankey on 18 points.
In the Boys Junior (year 8 & 9) and Intermediate (year 10 & 11) race, Erik Marshall (Lymm) won in 9 minutes 24 seconds from Ben Pucill (Great Sankey) 10 minutes exactly and Joe Weston (Great Sankey) in 10 minutes 14 seconds. Erik and Ben took the first two places in the junior race with Oliver Cooper (Bridgewater) in 4th place overall taking 3rd 10 minutes 55 seconds while Joe won the the Intermediate race. The Junior team race was won by Beamont on 27 points from Bridgewater on 28 points.
Next race takes place at Walton Gardens on Saturday November 17, with the first race at 10:30am.
