Improvements plan for artificial sports pitch

A MAJOR improvement to the artificial grass sports pitch at Appleton’s Broomfields Leisure Centre will be carried out if Warrington planners give the go-ahead,
The scheme, submitted by leisure providers LiveWire, will involve refurbishment of the pitch, replacement floodlighting, fencing and entrance gates. Officers are recommending the scheme be improved.
One nearby residents has expressed concern on the grounds the existing lights cause light pollution and an impact on neighbouring properties, resulting in an impact on the residential amenity of residents..
They claim there needs to be less light spillage.
But officers say the nearest dwellings are about 63 metres away and separated from the pitch by open space and woodland.
They say there will no harmful impact on the living conditions of residents.
