Police say the incident, at around 8.45am yesterday, Thursday, October 4, when  officers were called to reports of items being thrown towards vehicles from a bridge on Knutsford Road, Latchford, could have led to “devastating consequences.

Officers swiftly attended the scene and two local men, age 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of using threatening and abusive language.

Both men have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

PC Lee Ferris said: “Fortunately nobody was hurt as a result of this incident, but the consequences could have been devastating.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and as part of my investigation I am keen to hear from anyone with any information about it.

“Knutsford Road is a busy road and I believe there would have been a number of people in the area at the time.

“I’m particularly keen to trace the owner of a new style white car which we believe may have been hit by one of the objects thrown from the bridge.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who believes they may have any dashcam footage of the incident.”
