BIRCHWOOD-based Galliford Try Partnerships have completed a 160 mile static bike ride to help raise £5k for the World Child Cancer charity.

The company’s North West team, whose office is on Kelburn Court, took on the “Tour De Try Challenge” in aid of their chosen charity.

The entire business is taking part in similar events throughout the week which will see staff complete a total of 850 miles, the equivalent of cycling between each of the company’s regional offices.

The bike ride follows Finance Director Pete Ackerley raising over £2K by completing the gruelling Swiss Peaks Challenge which saw him run 90km in over 23 hours.

Sian Pitt, Associate Sales Director at Galliford Try Partnerships said: “I’m really pleased with the enthusiasm the team is showing. Everyone is pitching in, even if they can only cycle for one mile. The charity does incredible work and we are so pleased to be able to help out by taking on the “Tour De Try Cycle Challenge.

“Across the company we want to raise £50K this year for World Child Cancer and our North West team will be contributing at least £5K of this. The money raised will make a real difference to children across the globe so we’ll be putting in the hard miles to make sure we reach our goal.”

The first 800 miles will be completed by employees over the four days using static bikes in each office, with the final 50 miles completed by a team of 25 volunteers who will be cycling from Barnstaple to Exeter.

World Child Cancer supports children with cancer, and their families, in nine programmes across Africa, Asia and Central America.
