The FDR Foundation present awards

THE FDR Foundation, which was officially launched in February aims to provide financial support to families of children in need in Cheshire, by reason of ill health, disability, financial hardship or another disadvantage.

The first recipient of an award from The FDR Foundation was Skylar (aged 6), who came to collect her new customised wheelchair with her mum, Haley

Skylar’s health has caused mobility issues which has made it difficult for her to move around easily at school and play with her friends without assistance and supervision.

Her new wheelchair has been customised for Skylar’s needs, complete with her own specific requests for it to be pink and to have flashing lights. Both of which were included and was declared to be ‘perfect’ by Skylar.

The second award is to provide funding for 30 children and their families to attend the Big Top Circus on 23rd September. The recipients have been nominated from Warrington schools and organisations, and for many this will be the first time they will get the chance to see the wonder of a Circus event and have a family day out. The Circus Starr production is a relaxed and inclusive show and promises to be a magical experience for all.

Margaret Evans, chair of The FDR Foundation commented; “We are delighted to have made these two initial awards so soon after launching the charity. Skylar’s new wheelchair will be truly life changing for this little girl and her family. We hope the children and families going to the Circus this weekend have a magical time and create memories that will last”

“Being able to make these awards is only possible because of the efforts of our supporters and we thank everyone for their hard work, and of course we welcome ideas for future fundraising efforts from office bake off events to sponsored runs or more challenging activities”
