Torrential rain hits children going to school

HEAVY rain overnight and this morning led to serious flooding at Lymm – posing difficulties for children going to Lymm High School.
Oughtirngton Lane, near its junction with Longbutt Lane, was closed to traffic and left looking more like a canal.
Flooding also affected Longbutt Lane itself and parts of Grammar School Road.
The school posted a warning to parents on its website, advising them to drop pupils further away from the school, such as in Higher Lane, where staff would be available to escort them to the school.
Torrential rain led to flooding in fields around the school and in other parts of Lymm. And at Appleton, Lumb Brook Road was closed when high winds toppled a tree.
