Warrington-Worldwide team raising funds for Warrington’s Peace Centre

ORBIT NEWS MD and publisher of Warrington-Worldwide, Gary Skentelbery, will be joined by business people from across Warrington in the English Half Marathon 10k running challenge raising funds for the town’s Peace Foundation.

Gary will embark on the Knight Corporate Finance-sponsored challenge, part of the English Half Marathon events taking place in Warrington this Sunday (Sept 16) in the year Orbit News celebrates 50 years in business and the 25th anniversary of the Warrington bombing.

Gary, who only took up running earlier this year after shedding three stone in a personal fitness drive, will be joined by his wife Janet, Michele Butterworth (from Shellys), Roz Healey (from Aspire Computers), Gary Jenkins (from No Brainer), Paul Moore (from PME Projects), Henry Seddon (from Henry’s Lap Tops), Former Wire FM presenter Dominic Walker and friends Colin Shilito and Beverley Stockton.

“I’ve never been a runner, so this will be one of the biggest physical challenges of my life,” said Gary, who is the longest serving Patron at the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace. “This is a charity so close to my heart and the hearts of so many people across our town.”

Gary and the team at Orbit News were the first media agency on the ground following the town bombing in 1993.

“I remember the day vividly,” Gary added. “It was a scene I will never forget. But the response from across the world – and the response from Colin, Wendy and their family in particular – was an inspiration for us all. And that continues today.

“Having followed their personal story every step of the way over the past 25 years, now is the time to step out on my own challenge and I’m delighted to have a team with me to help us raise much needed funds for the work of the Foundation, which still has such an incredibly positive impact on so many people’s live today.”

From the tragedy long term friendships have formed, with Gary and Colin competing on the tennis courts with a group of friends most Sunday evenings for the past 20 plus years!
