Town’s athletes win relay titles in the mud

WARRINGTON Athletic Club were represented in eight of out 10 races in the North West Road Relays at Delamere Forest.
In very wet and muddy conditions, the club won one North West title and two sets of titles in the Cheshire Relay Championships, which were run alongside the North West races.
The North West title came in the under 17 men’s race where Isaaq Ataullah ran the first leg handing over in a time of 10 minutes 47 seconds in seventh place to Joe Buckley.
Joe moved the team through to second place with the third fastest overall “North West” time of 9 minutes 59 seconds and on the final leg Jordan Jones moved through into the lead about halfway round the lap and went on to win with the second fastest overall “North West” time of 9 minutes 47 seconds for a total time of 30 minutes 33 seconds.
They also won the Cheshire title with Jordan and Joe being the two fastest Cheshire times and Isaaq the 8th fastest Cheshire time.
In the Under 11 Boys Race Jacob Pryor was on the first leg and handed over in 25th place in 4 minutes 53 seconds. On the second leg Jack Marwood ran superbly to move up to fourth place recording the second equal fastest overall “North West” time with 4 minutes 11 seconds. And on the final leg Spencer Astbury finished in 12th place overall with a time of 4 minutes 50 seconds for a total time of 13 minutes 54 seconds. This got them the Gold Medals in the Cheshire Championship with Jack being the fastest Cheshire time and Spencer ninth fastest in Cheshire.
