VIDEO: FIVE years on from being in charge of his first English Half Marathon, Race Director Rob Griffiths talks about how his dream to bring the event into Warrington town centre, finishing at the iconic Golden Gates, became a reality.
Set to celebrate its 10th anniversary this Sunday (September 16) it has been a story of highs and lows for the event, which has now become one of the highlights of the year in Rob’s home town.
After buying the English Half Marathon title five years ago for just £1, it has now also become a major event in the running calendar, attracting competitors from around the world, providing a major boost to the local economy.
Rob says he has ambitions to make it even “bigger and better” in the future.
Meanwhile inspired by Rob I have also put on my running shoes to take part in my first ever 10k event, putting together a team to help raise funds for the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, in the 25th anniversary year of the Warrington bombing.
After my interview with Rob, hear how the English Half Marathon has inspired me!
