Drugs suspect arrested at bus stop was armed with knife

A drugs suspect arrested at a Warrington town centre bus stop was found to be armed with a knife.

The male was arrested on Rylands Street at 16.54 today (Saturday) and found to be in possession of class A and B drugs and a bladed article.

It is also alleged that following his arrest he was involved in a struggle with officers who had to call for assistance of a van to transport him to custody.

Earlier in the day at 0915 hours, a male was arrested in the Birchwood area for allegations of Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Consent, No Insurance or Licence – as well as Criminal Damage in a Property – this was following a domestic incident.

The at 1218 hours a male was arrested in the Fairfield/Howley area for two alleged Domestic Assaults in February and September 2018 – and alleged Harassment of the same victim since February.

The arrests followed a busy night for Warrington police.

A number of offences included a male being arrested at Warrington Hospital at 2241 hours last night (Friday) for an allegation of Controlling & Coercive behaviour against his partner.

During another incident at the hospital a woman was arrested for an allegation of Drunk and Disorderly – she was taken there following a concern for her safety, but once at the hospital it is alleged that she became abusive.

Then at 0343 hours a male was arrested for an alleged offence of Sexual Touching on a female on Academy Way.
