PROMINENT ‘Remain’ Campaigner Lord Adonis was guest speaker at the launch of a cross-party grassroots campaign group, “Warrington for Europe.”
To a turnout of over 100 people including Councillors from across Party lines, the former Transport Czar gave an impassioned speech about his views on Britain, Europe and the political processes currently playing out in Parliament around the Brexit question.
In particular the Labour Peer called for support and action to help put pressure on Councils, MP’s and Ministers to support the move for “a Peoples Vote” on the final Brexit deal reached by Theresa May’s Government and their Brussels counterparts.
A series of protests at Party conferences have been organised with a “Peoples March” in London planned in October, with organisers hoping to see over 1 million protesters on the streets of the Capital.

Warrington for Europe group has been set up to raise awareness about the EU and Brexit and is backing calls for a referendum on the terms of the final Brexit deal. They plan a series of street surgeries beginning on Saturday, September 8 at Market Gate, where they will be on hand to discuss Brexit or provide information to the Warrington public.
They also plan to lobby Warrington Borough Council to undertake and publish a Brexit risk assessment and to support “the Peoples Vote” as other towns and cities have done.
