LOCAL charity Walton Lea Partnership has received a £10,000 donation from Vinci Construction UK, with more fund-raising in the pipeline including a charity golf day.

Vinci Construction were appointed by Warrington Borough Council last September to start the main build and final phase of the multi-million pound Time Square regeneration project in central Warrington, which is being managed by Senior Project Manager for Vinci Construction, Paul Turner.

Earlier this year, through Paul, the Walton Lea Partnership was chosen as the adopted local Warrington charity for Vinci to partner as part of their commitment to corporate social responsibility through their Stand Out, Make A Difference Days

The Walton Lea Partnership supports vulnerable adults and young people with learning disabilities to learn and develop skills through training and supported work in social enterprises.

Following on the heels of the cheque presentation, Paul Turner, approached Warrington Business Exchange to help arrange a charity golf day which will take place on Thursday, September 6 to raise further funds for the charity.

The sell-out golf day will bring together Business Exchange members and other businesses working with Vinci for a fun day at the golf course at Walton Hall, Warrington.

Viv Lacey, Trustee and Change Director for the Walton Lea Partnership said: ‘’Vinci and Warrington Borough Council through their work with Warrington & Co. are not just committed to creating great buildings that will put more heart into their local communities – they believe in making towns and cities great places for the people in those communities-especially when those people have a learning disability

Thanks to the sponsorship of Vinci’s Paul Turner, the Walton Lea Partnership recently made a successful £10k funding application to the Vinci Foundation to set up a classroom for skills learning and development – and Vinci are providing mentoring, advice and all important practical support and know-how to help the Charity to centre its work at Walton including from next April at the Walton Estate. Here, Walton Lea will partner WBC and Myerscough College in a unique learning collaboration enabled by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

We are so grateful for their support and thank Vinci and Warrington Business Exchange for helping arrange the charity golf day.’’

Paul Turner, Senior Project Manager, Vinci Construction added: ‘‘The Walton Lea Partnership is a wonderful charity that does great work. Personally I am so very proud to be involved in helping out the work that they do as indeed are all of my team’’

Cllr Pat Wright, Executive Member, Statutory Health and Adult Social Care, Warrington Borough Council, commented: ‘’It is great to see Vinci supporting the Walton Lea Partnership, the much needed funds that they are raising will be put to good use in helping the vulnerable adults and young people with learning disabilities that the charity does such good work in supporting’’
