Girl golfers put Lymm firmly on the map

THREE girl golfers put Lymm firmly on the map when they competed in the English Junior Championship at Frilford Heath.
They finished in a tie for fourth place out of 24 counties and were the only all-girl team in the championship.
Only three other girls competed in what was a very male-dominated competition.
The Lymm Golf Club trio of Freya Jackson, Sophie Mullarkey and McKenzie Gourlay, had qualified for the competition following their success in winning the Cheshire Junior Championship.
At the end of their final round they were in second place which they held for most of the afternoon until the final few teams came in.
They eventually finished in a tie for fourth place out of 24 counties.
Freya finished fourth in the individual competition and has reduced her handicap to 13 which is remarkable considering she has been playing golf for less than two years.
Their success reflects the quality of the junior coaching at Lymm which will be further improved when the Junior Golf Academy is launched.
