FAMILY bus company Fairbrothers has come to the end of the road after more than 25 years in business in Warrington.

Owner David Fairbrother announced the decision with a post on social media over the weekend, after agreeing a deal with Warrington’s Own Buses, formerly known as Network Warrington – the town’s municipal bus company.

Warrington’s Own Buses are working with David to ensure job security for as many people as possible and will be taking over existing bus routes and school runs.

David posted: “It is with a heavy heart to announce that after 26 years of serving the Warrington area Fairbrothers will no longer be operating.

“Due to personal reasons we have had to scale down the business.

“With the help and cooperation of Warrington Own Buses they have agreed to take over all local services and school services. We have also been in negotiations to relocate Fairbrother Drivers to secure jobs with Warrington Own Buses.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who have supported our services over the years.”

Warrington’s Own Buses MD Ben Wakerley said: “We can confirm an agreement with Fairbrothers Ltd has been reached.

“There will be no change in fares and all the school services will operate as normal.

“We are working with David to ensure job security for as many people as possible.”
