CAMPAIGNERS opposing the controversial proposed Western Link are holding an awareness fun day at the under threat The Sloop pub this Sunday (August 19).

While a decision is yet to be made on whether the Government will fund the majority of Warrington Borough Council’s proposed £212.74 million Western Link scheme, Objection group “Communities United Against The Warrington Western Link” have arranged a family fun day to raise awareness.

The Sloop at Sankey Bridges, is one of the oldest pubs in Warrington and is one of the properties under the threat of demolition, if the Western Link Road project goes ahead and local residents are encouraged to support their endangered local and have a fun day.

“Communities United” promise an  afternoon  of fun for the whole family to enjoy with a disco, face painting, hotdogs, raffle, lucky dip, cake stall and penalty shoot out comp.

Cindy Maguire of “Communities United” when announcing the event on the group’s facebook page wrote “It will also be an opportunity for residents to pick up the latest info on the Warrington Western Link developments and how it will affect them.”
