Vulnerable man attacked on his own doorstep

A VULNERABLE Warrington man was punched in the face and knocked to the floor when he answered a knock on his door.
Police today issued an appeal for witnesses of the attack which took place in Hoyle Street at 11.45pm on Tuesday.
Three men were involved in the attack in which the 40-year-old victim was punched in the face and then attacked again, causing him to fall to the floor..
The men then ran away I and the victim was taken to Warrington Hospital with an injury to his eye.
One of the offenders was wearing a dark green bomber jacket with black cargo trousers and a motorcycle helmet. The other two men were wearing camouflage jackets with black trousers and a motorcycle helmet.
Detective Constable Jonathan Carter, of Warrington CID, said: “This was a vicious assault on an innocent and vulnerable man in a case which we believe was a targeted attack on the wrong person.
“I would urge anyone who may be able to help with our investigation to come forward and call 101.”
