THREE fire engines were called to a fire in a first floor flat at Warrington this afternoon where a woman was overcome by smoke.
The blaze was in Wilderspool Causeway and was reported at around 2.30pm.
On arrival, crews from Birchwood, Penketh and Widnes found the flat well alight.
They entered the flat wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet. A covering jet was also in place.
The ground floor flat was also affected and a ventilation unit was used to clear dense smoke.
Paramedics were at the scene and treated the woman for smoke inhalation.
After the fire was extinguished, crews searched the premises using a thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no hotspots remaining.
In another incident this afternoon, a crew from Warrington Fire Station was called to Red Lane, Appleton, where trees and bushes were ablaze.
A main jet, a hose reel jet and beaters were used to put out the fire.
