Town hall visit celebrates 50 years of Orbit News

IT was an absolute honour for my family to be given a tour of Warrington Town Hall to celebrate 50 years of Orbit News – publishers of warrington-worldwide.

Mayor Cllr Karen Mundry proved to be the perfect host as four generations of the Skentelbery family were given a guided tour of the historic building.

Receiving certificates of appreciation from the Mayor in recognition of the many years the family business has been reporting on news int he town, was the icing on the cake.

My granddaughter Olivia certainly enjoyed the visit and got on famously with the Mayor, who is well used to working with children during her day job at Cheshire Day Nursery.

The visit brought back many memories for me and my father, who have spent many hours covering council meetings over the past 50 years.

To be able to visit Warrington’s landmark building with four generations of my family, mum and dad, wife Janet, daughters Amy and Hannah and little Olivia, was an experience I will never forget.

Certainly much more memorable than the many planning, highway and finance meetings to name but a few, I covered in my younger reporting days.

A big thank you to the Mayor for hosting us so well, presenting us with Certificates of Appreciation and a very enjoyable afternoon tea.
